A refractory brick 10 has in a side face 16 a socket 14 and an associated recess 26, said socket 14 being substantially parallel with the cold face 18, and a metal rod hanger 12 of inverted U-shape with perpendicular foot portions 24, which hanger is inserted into the socket with the foot portions 24 compressed, leg portions 20 in situ lying against the sides of the recess 28, thus leaving a loop portion 22 projecting perpendicularly above the cold face 18. The metal Casing 30 is applied after the hanger, there being sufficient depth of recess to leave a gap between the hanger and the casing. The hanger may be used with an uncased brick. |
