<p>The self-locking flexible mast mounting, esp. for windsurfers, comprises a cylindrical elastic link, housed in sockets on the mast and base unit respective. The cups abut when the mast is upright. The base unit has a spigot fitting a socket in the hull, with an elastic extension. A tensioner, threaded at the ends, is stretched between the cup in the mast and the free face of that extension, through a central hole. Tilting of the mast causes axial compression and radial expansion of the extension and locks the mast in place.</p> |
