FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has unit for switching main contact 2 off without arc due to fact that it is by- passed by main thyristor 3, which is rendered conducting in initial moment when contact is broken by means of starting circuit which has capacitor 9 and diode 10. Said thyristor 3 is rendered non- conducting by means of forced switching unit which has switching thyristor 4 and capacitor 5, which is charged by means of charging circuit which has thyristor 6 and resistor 7. Thyristor 6 is controlled by serial circuit of resistor 17, capacitor 18 and contacts 19 of end switch, which is connected mechanically to moving part of contactor.
