PURPOSE: To prevent permeation of gasoline, to facilitate recycling, to make a tank light in weight, to enlarge content volume in a limited installation space and to prevent the circumferential walls from separating between them in the case of rise in the internal pressure or of impact. CONSTITUTION: This is an automobile fuel tank consisting of an upper box-like body 1 with an opening downward and a lower box-like body 2 with an opening upward both made of aluminum. The lower part of the circumferential wall 6 of the upper body 1 is fitted in the upper part of the circumferential wall 3 of the lower body 2. On the upper part of the circumferential wall 3 of the lower body 2, a bead 5 is formed extending in the circumferential direction and projecting outward. On the lower part of the circumferential wall 6 of the upper body 1, a bead 7 is formed extending in the circumferential direction and projecting outward so as to fit in the groove inside the bead 5 of the lower body 2. With the bead 7 of the upper body 1 fitted in the groove inside the bead 5 of the lower body 2, the circumferential walls 6, 3 of both box-like bodies 1, 2 are welded to each other at the part thus superposed. |
