PURPOSE: To obtain a nonwoven fabric having uniformly dispersed extremely fine fibers having <=3μm mean fiber diameter and to provide a method for producing same. CONSTITUTION: This nonwoven fabric consists mainly of extremely fine fibers of which mean fiber diameter is <=3μm, and the crossing points of the extremely fine fibers each other satisfying the following conditions, occupy >=80% in at least one side surface of the nonwoven fabric. Within an optional sector region having a center at the crossing point of the extremely fine fibers each other, 50r radius (r: mean fiber diameter of the extremely fine fiber) and 15 deg. angle, there must be another crossing point of the extremely fine fibers each other. This nonwoven fabric is obtained by combining fiber webs consisting mainly of dividable fibers capable of generating the extremely fine fibers having <=3μm mean fiber diameter, then generating the extremely fine fibers by dividing the dividable fibers, and then irradiating an ultrasonic wave under the condition of impregnating a liquid to disperse the extremely fine fibers present in at least one side surface. |
