Kitchen appliance assembly in work-top esp. food slicer

The appliance is parked underneath the top of the worktop in an opening which can be covered by a plate (5) when not in use. When the appliance is used this plate acts as a crumb tray. The plate is dish- shaped on the underneath and is attached along the edge of the opening. It can be removed for easy cleaning. The appliance entrains the plate as it moves into the operating position. The plate is made from scratch resistant material and can also serve as a cutting board.
