An electric toothbrush has a brush body (1) that contains a driving rod (6) linked by a driving pin (7) to an exchangeable rotary bristle-carrier (3) mounted in the brush body (1). When the bristle-carrier (3) is set into the brush body (1), the latter is coupled to a bearing spindle (5) and to the driving pin (7). When the bristle-carrier (3) is rotated, it reaches a locked position and at the same time the driving rod (6) leaves its dead centre position.
