Resin transfer moulding

In resin transfer moulding (RTM), the walls of the mould cavity are provided with temperature sensing thermocouples 20. Pressure sensors can be used alternatively or additionally. The thermocouples are connected to a processor unit 10,12 which receives signals from all the thermocouples and detects from a temperature rise when an exothermic reaction has been completed in the mould cavity. The processor unit then, after a certain time delay, gives an instruction to open the mould so that a moulded component can be demoulded. <IMAGE>
