PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound capable of giving an image of from blue to cyan of excellent density, scarecely coloring a non-image part by light, excellent in light resistance and useful as an electron-donating colorless dye for a pressure and heat sensitive recording material. CONSTITUTION: This is a compound of formula I [R<1> is OCOR<2> (R<2> is an alkyl, an aryl, etc.), NHSO2 R<3> (R<3> is an alkyl or an aryl) or a halogen; R<4> and R<5> are each H, an alkyl or an aryl; R<6> and R<7> are each H, an alkyl, an alkoxy or a halogen], e.g. a compound of formula II. A compound of formula I is produced e.g. by reacting m-acetyloxy-N,N-di-n-propylaniline with 1-ethyl-2- methylindole-3-yl 3-carboxypyridine-2-yl ketone. |
