PURPOSE: To simply obtain the subject compound in high yield by reacting a hydroxyl group-containing oxazolidine with an alkoxysilane in the presence of a catalyst, useful as a latent curing agent for a one-pack moisture-curing urethane resin, a silane coupling agent, etc., simply in high yield. CONSTITUTION: An oxazolidine of formula I (R<2> is a 2-3C alkyl; R<3> is H or methyl; R<4> and R<5> are each H or a 1-20C hydrocarbon) [e.g. 2-isopropyl-3-(2- hydroxyethyl)oxazolidine, etc.] is reacted with an alkoxysilane of formula II ((n) is an integer of 0-3; R is H or an organic solvent; R<1> is a 1-6C hydrocarbon) (e.g. tetraethoxysilane, etc.) in the presence of at least one catalyst such as a titanium alkoxide, an aluminum alkoxide, a bivalent tin compound, etc., in a solvent such as toluene at 40-60 deg.C to give the objective oxazolidinesilyl ether compound useful as a latent curing agent for a one-pack moisture-curing urethane resin, a silane coupling agent, etc., simply in high yield. |
