PURPOSE: To provide a display device control method for controlling to reduce power consumption by controlling a maintenance discharge pulse frequency of a maintenance discharge pulse waveform to make a power consumption value a fixed value or below. CONSTITUTION: Since a consumption current of a device driving high voltage source voltage Vs flows as a peak current, it is converted to a voltage value of a mean current by an integration circuit accompanying a current detection means 1, and is A/D-converted to be fetched in an MPU 13 as the binary data. Then, they are compared with a reference value (reference value of APC convergent value) set in from the beginning, and when they are lower than the value, the luminance setting value of the present condition is outputted as it is. Further, when higher than the reference value, the luminance setting value of the present condition is reduced for operating an APC function. The matter that an hourly change is imparted between the luminance lowering at the time of the start of automatic power consumption control when a display rate in a display device is raised and the luminance rising at the time of going out of the automatic power consumption control when the display rate is lowered is preferred. |
