<p>A novel method for producing plant hybrids, in which plant varieties, hybrids, strains, male-sterile lines or individuals and self-incompatible lines or individuals have become male-sterile or self-incompatible by changing the growing environment and the tissue cultural condition of them. Then crossing with male-fertile varieties or native varieties, strains and hybrids to obtain hybrid seeds or multi-cross seeds, and forcing the male-sterile or self-incompatible individuals self-pollinating or restoring its original growing conditions to obtain inbred seeds. Inbred seeds may be obtained under male-fertile or self-compatible condition, and hybrid seeds may be obtained under male-sterile condition by crossing with male-fertile or native varieties, hybrids and strains. Resuming the fertility of male-sterile lines or individuals to propagate seeds by self-pollination, and crossing with male-fertile varieties, hybrids and strains under male-sterile or self-incompatible condition to obtain hybrid seeds or multi-cross seeds.</p> |
