Rotating regenerative heat exchanger

Heat exchanger rotor has sectors formed by radial walls. Chains are loosely suspended in these sectors. On rotation, these chains collapse and straighten and this action keeps heat transfer surfaces clean. The rotor has sealing plates for ensuring that hot and cold gases do not mix. The chains act also as heat transfer elements in the rotor in which the chains are alternately exposed to cold and hot gas.
