<p>Metallurgical furnaces e.g. blast furnaces are cooled by cooling elements, from which the het is abstracted by water passing through vertical groups of tubes. Each tube, or pair of tubes, in a section of four is connected to a separate feed and outer main. Thus each main is connected by one or a pair of tubes from each section. When replacement of tubes is necessary, water may still pass through the remaining tubes in the section, and the cooling elements do not become overheated.</p> |
