Pure hydrogen by electrolysis using cathode - with selective permeability

Appts for H2 recovery contains electrolyser with cathode plate of material, which is selectively permeable atomic H, joined to and forming one wall or collecting chamber. Cathode can consist of group VIII element, esp. Pd, or alloy with group I element, esp. Pd/Ni/Ag or Pd/Ag alloys. Use of this cathode and collecting chamber prevents contamination of H2 with O2, H2O vapour and alkali mist.
