PURPOSE: To secure high frictional coefficient and reduce abrasion of an opposite member. CONSTITUTION: Frictional member comprises fiber base containing polished hard inorganic fibers, resin binder, and a charger. The polished hard inorganic fiber has a mean fiber diameter ranging from 1.0 to 4.5μm. Since the mean fiber diameter of the polished hard inorganic fiber is used, high frictional coefficient is secured, while abrasion of the opposed member is reduced. As the polished hard inorganic fiber, alumina-, silica-, or silica-alumina-based ceramic fiber, or Whisker can be used.
