The energy recovery circuit (6) is used for a discharge circuit with a pair of series diodes (Da1,Da2) a storage capacitor (Csp) and a discharge capacitor (Ca). It uses a semiconductor switch (T) in series with a choke coil winding (Ld) between the positive DC terminal and the second diode of the discharge circuit and a second choke coil winding (Lf) in series with a feedback diode (D3) across the positive and negative DC terminals. Both windings of the choke coil are magnetically coupled with one another.
