PURPOSE: To stably and economically produce a new antitumoral compound capable of manifesting cancer cell proliferation inhibiting actions on human tumoral cells in a trace amount by culturing a cell having an origin in the genus Taxus. CONSTITUTION: A cell having an origin in the genus Taxus (e.g. a new leaf of a tree of Taxus capsidata cultivated in Kawasaki City in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) is cultured (under conditions of 20-25 deg.C culture temperature and pH5.8 for 10-100 days in the dark, etc.) and the resultant cultured cell is then recovered to collect a compound of the formula present in a cultured cell thereof. Furthermore, the physicochemical properties of the compound are as follows: appearance: white powder; solubility: sparingly soluble in water and readily soluble in methanol; molecular weight: 854; ultraviolet maximum absorption wavelength: 227nm, etc. Furthermore, e.g. 0-10mg/l auxin compound, 0-10mg/l cytokinins and 0-100mg/l gibberellins are preferably added into the culture medium.
|
