PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adaptability of an ATM switch to the restriction by an asynchronous transfer mode of a large processing quantity by performing route designation to cells based on the output line identified by means of a switching matrix line. SOLUTION: A group synchronous switching core GSSC 32 performs switching by only identifying an output line group. Namely, the distinction among different lines in the same group is performed by means of a matrix 36. The matrix 36 attains an integral concentration factor (c), and then, each group of (m) pieces of output lines of the GSSC 32 has the maximum traffic corresponding to m/c Erlang and the traffic reduction corresponding to the expansion of a network is controlled by the value of (m). For the concentration/expansion factor desired or permitted in the overall design of a switch 4, for example, 64×32, 48×16, and 32×8 sizes can be selected. For forming the matrix 36, in addition, various matrix designing methods can be applied in accordance with several characteristics.
|
