Preferably the alloy comprises in percentage by weight Al 2-10; Si 0À001-3 and a grain refining element selected from Fe up to 4À5; Cr up to 1; Zr up to 0À5; Co up to 1 and mixtures thereof, the balance being essentially copper. The mismatch in thermal expansion between the alloy and the ceramic is less than 110 x 10-7‹C-1.
