PURPOSE: To provide a constitution which facilitates operation for specifying the position of a desired cell in a table with a cursor and enables the table to be generated and edited with efficiency, in an editing device which generates and edits the table by displaying table data on a display means. CONSTITUTION: When a document including a table is edited, the document is read out of an external storage device 6 first and displayed on a display device 3 (step S1). Then, the cursor position on the display device 3 is initialized (S2) and then data for moving the cursor on a keyboard 2 or with the pointing device 4 are read out (S3), and it is judged whether or not cursor control is performed with the data (S4) and when the cursor control is performed, the data attribute at the cursor position is referred to (S5), thereby performing cursor movement corresponding to the data (S6). When the data attribute indicates a table, the cursor is moved by cells of the table. |
