PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device which judges automatically the cleaning timing of a discharge wire and executes cleaning of the wire by itself before any failure in the image quality occurs, wherewith maintenance-free is achieved through execution of automatic cleaning easily and at any time without directly touching with hand. CONSTITUTION: This image forming device comprises a discharge wire to charge a photoreceptor 2, a cleaning member to clean the wire, a holding member to support the cleaning member, a driving means 16 to move the cleaning member, a means to sense the surface potential of the photoreceptor 2, a nonvolatile memory 12 to store the set proper surface potential value, and a control circuit 3 to control the timing and the motion of driving means 16, whereby the data obtained by the means to sense the surface potential is compared with the set value of proper surface potential, and it the result from comparison shows that the sensing data is not identical to the proper value, the cleaning member is moved, and the discharge with is cleaned automatically. |
