PURPOSE: To provide the human-body detection apparatus for a vehicle by an infrared detection device which is constituted is such a way that a human- body in front of the vehicle in the advancing direction of the vehicle can be detected and that an undetectable region can be reduced as far as possible. CONSTITUTION: A pyroelectric infrared sensor which comprises one pair of elements and a plurality of infrared detection devices 11, 11' which are constituted of optical lens systems comprising a plurality of detection areas are attached so as to keep an interval in the transverse direction on the front in at least one advance direction out of the advance direction and the backward driection of a vehicle. The human-body detection apparatus of the vehicle is constituted so as to be capable of detecting a human being who goes straight on relatively to the front in at least one direction to which the plurality of infrared detection devices 11, 11' are attached.
