<p>A rotary valve for an internal combustion engine has a rotor in a split casing (3, 4), one portion (3) of the casing (3, 4) forming the head (2) of the engine. The rotor has a pair of spiral passages (10, 11) each opening in sequence to a single port (25) opening into the cylinder of the engine. A seal (22) is provided in the port (25), the seal (22) sealing on the rotor and balanced by the cylinder pressure acting on each end of the seal (22).</p> |
