The use of at least one salt of at least one alkaline earth metal as an inhibitor of Tumour Necrosis Factor- alpha (TNF- alpha ) in a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, dermatological or veterinary composition (I), is new. Also claimed is the use of a strontium salt in a cosmetic, pharmaceutical, dermatological or veterinary composition (II), to treat pathological, and/or physiological disorders associated with the liberation of substance P.
