The invention relates to a process and a device for heating glass sheets for bending and/or hardening. The glass sheets are conveyed in the oven using a first conveyor 7 whose conveyance distance between turning points for the forwards and backwards movement is longer forwards than backwards. The temperature of the glass is measured from the second conveyor 8 and the speed of the conveyor is regulated depending on the temperature measurement during a particular conveyance distance. After the speed-regulated conveyance distance, the glass sheet is transferred to the terminus of the oven at an accelerated conveyance speed. <IMAGE>
