PURPOSE: To make the reflection quantity at the open end of an optical fiber less, optical parts compact and production easy by forming the terminal of an optical fiber in a spherical surface shape. CONSTITUTION: The cut surface at the optical fiber terminal constituting an optical circuit of an optical fiber interferometer, optical fiber amplifier, etc., is formed as a mirror finished surface perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber 1 in such a manner that light output and input are efficiently executed. This optical type non-reflection terminal is formed in the spherical surface shape by the surface tension of glass generated by heating and melting the terminal part of such optical fiber 1. For example, an arc discharge is usable as a heating means of such a case. The end face at the terminal of the optical fiber formed in the spherical surface shape by heating and melting and, therefore, the quantity of the reflected light at the end face returning to the core 1b of the optical fiber is suppressed to a lower level as compared with the case the end face is plane. |
