A method serves for making paper carrier bags (2), having paper handles glued on the outside, in one continuous operation. First of all, paper carrier bags (2) without a handle are made in a bag machine (1). The paper handles are glued to the paper carrier bags (2) in a handle applicator unit (8). So that the paper bags having a handle glued on the outside can be made continuously and at a high cycle rate in one operation, the paper carrier bags (2) are delivered from the bag machine (1) to the handle applicator unit (8), with the bottom in front.
