摘要 FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: propeller has paddles 1 mounted on struts 2 articulated directly and through stops 4 with closed chains 3 embracing load-bearing wheels 5 secured on shafts 6 whose axes are perpendicular to fore-and-aft axis of ship; several blades simultaneously interact with working medium - water; working plane of this blades is perpendicular to direction of ship's motion. Part of propeller is enclosed in main casing to avoid effect of ship's motions, and waves and to ensure operation of propeller at different depths. Inside this casing, blades which are isolated from outside working medium perform function of flywheel - energy accumulator together with working medium moved by these blades in main casing; blades which are not located in main casing interact with outside working medium ensuring motion of ship. Provision is made for bearing rollers 7 to avoid cocking of closed chains during operation and to reduce load on these chains. Stops 4 connect struts with closed chains by means of articulation joints. Struts are connected in pairs at one point; when stop of one struts exerts pressure on chain at this point, stop of other strut pulls chain at this point. Part of propeller which is not closed with main casing is protected with additional casing which is provided with ports fitted with shutters to adjust force of reaction of interaction of propeller with outside working medium. Main casing also provided with ports having shutter to ensure sharp braking of ship and to reverse her direction of motion without making use of rudders and without changing the mode of operation of propeller. This propeller may be also used in aircraft. This propeller may be also used for conversion of energy of liquid or gas flows to other kinds of energy; in this case, propeller is connected with energy converter and liquid or gas flow acting on propeller sets in motion the energy converter.
