Controlling consistency of wet concrete in mixer

The quantity of water added to the concrete mixer (14) is controlled by a calculator (32). At least part of the sand (18) fed into the concrete mixer is removed and compacted. The power required for compacting dependent on the humidity of the sand and the particle size distribution curve is measured. The extracted sand is pressed between two spaced-apart rollers (22,24) with profiled surfaces and rotating in contrary directions, and compacted. The power needed to compact the sand is measured by the power needed to drive the rollers.
