The coffee grinder has two grinding plates (7,8) facing each other, with the distance between them adjustable to allow variation of the size of the ground coffee grains emerging. An ambient humidity detector provides a measure of humidity, which is used to control the separation between the plates, taking account of the effect of humidity on the grinding process. The distance between the plates is measured and the value compared with the value of the signal from the humidity detector by means of a processor circuit. The circuit provides interfaces to the detectors and processes the signals from them. The processing makes use of stored tables representing functions. The output from the processor drives an electric motor that alters separation between the grinding plates. |
