The image data compressing method according to the present invention has an object to provide an image data compressing method, easy to realize the calculation by a hardware and keep the characteristic data of an image in maximum. An image data compressing method comprising steps of: i) calculating a histogram of a digital image; ii) pairing adjacent two density in the order of density value in the histogram; iii) adding minor number of pixels of a density to major number of pixels of a density in each pair; iv) defining a major number of pixels of a density as a representative density of each pair; and v) the value added the minor number of pixels to the major number of pixels is regarded as a number of pixels of a pair.
