The pinion has a synthetic body (3), which is reinforced at least in those places which are highly stressed. The material which is used for reinforcing is preferably a metal, and may be in the form of an insert which is integrated into the pinion. The reinforcement (5) may be provided by a disc, which may also support the teeth of the pinion, especially when these are in the form of a bevel gearing (15). Teeth of this may be supported by sufficiently thin discs, which have teeth on their sides.
