A method of producing a composite prod., comprising an electrode material, a catalyst material and a solid electrolyte membrane (34), esp. for a fuel cell (60), involves: (a) preparing a catalytic powder contg. an electrode material, a catalyst-forming material, and a solid electrolyte-forming material, and applying the powder onto a surface; (b) heating the powder, at the side remote from the surface, to soften the solid electrolyte-forming material; and (c) pressing the powder onto a solid electrolyte membrane.
