Photographic image is formed on a photographic material consisting of a support layer with >=1 colour image-forming unit contg. a silver halide emulsion layer in which an imagewise distribution of catalytic silver can be effected, and a photographic colour developer which is present in the emulsion layer or an adjoining layer, by treating the exposed emulsion layer with a soln. which effects the development of the silver halide and contains a cobalt (III) complex with a co-ordination number of 6, in the presence of a colour developer, so that a colour image is formed corresponding with the distribution of the catalytic silver. Gives a large catalytic silver surface in a short time. The formation of the dye is facilitated by the presence of the large catalytic silver surface.
