A composite material is produced by making a pre-product of this material containing several components with different vapour pressure. The pre-product (6) is then heated in a sealed chamber (3) together with other materials (7, 8) containing a compound already present in the pre-product which has a higher vapour pressure so that the vaporisation of this compound in the pre-product is suppressed. The apparatus for carrying out the process is also claimed.
