PURPOSE: To acquire a very high speed TDM(time division multiplex) optical signal of high quality without converting the optical signal into an electric signal by detecting the 'phase difference between optical signals that undergo the TDM synthesization after demultiplexing and then controlling the delay time of a variable optical delay circuit that is used for one of both demultiplexed optical signals. CONSTITUTION: The optical pulses sent from a pulse generation light source 1 are divided into the optical pulses of two pairs, etc., by an optical demultiplexer 4a. The optical pulses of one of both pairs are synthesized into a TDM optical pulse by an optical multiplexer 4b via a variable optical delay circuit 8. The phase difference of optical signals, i.e., the jitters of the TDM optical pulse is detected by a phase difference detection circuit 7, and the delay time of the circuit 7 is controlled based on its detection result. In such a constitution, the repetitive pulse strings of high accuracy can be generated as the outputs of the equal pulse intervals and with no influence caused by the environmental temperature changes. |
