PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a ferrotype and a graininess of an imaging element. SOLUTION: In an imaging element which includes a support medium, at least one hydrophilic photosensitive layer, and at least one protection overcoat layer containing a binder and a permanent mat grain, the permanent mat grain is provided with grain diameter distributions for the first mode and for the second mode, and in the first mode, organic grain with a means grain diameter of 0.2-1.2μm is applied in an application quantity of 10-200mg/m<2> , while in the second mode, organic grain with a mean grain diameter of 5-10μm is applied in an application quantity of 5-150mg/m<2> . The total application quantity of the first mode and the second mode exceeds 100mg/m<2> in the imaging element.
