During the machining of a workpiece (2), the tool (1) is inclined transversely to the feed direction so that the tool (1) lies with a contact line (5) on the workpiece (2). Since the same relationships thus arise as in the rotary milling of convexely curved surfaces, superfine surfaces on the workpiece (2) are also achieved during the machining of concave surfaces of the workpiece (2).
