METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MODULATING IMAGE SIGNAL OF PRINTING PRESS WITH HIGH ADDRESSING CAPABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for modulating an image signal in a high addressability printing machine. SOLUTION: An image is shown by words which are made into one set. The respective words have M bits and they are modulated to generate a single bit stream. The printing machine printing the image shown by the set of words on paper contains a multi-phase clock generator generating an N-phase signal in response to a clock signal having a first clock rate and a data serializer 120 executing communication with the multi-phase clock generator 124 and receiving the N-phase signal and the word set. The data serializer 120 processes the words of the word set by using the N-phase signal during an operation and generates a single bit stream. The single bit stream is outputted at a second clock rate higher than the first clock rate. The data serializer 120 executes communication with the print engine and the print engine forms the image on paper by receiving a single bit stream.
