<p>The invention provides a substantially pure nucleic acid encoding a protein that inhibits the expression of neural proteins in non-neural tissues. The invention also provides a substantially pure nucleic acid encoding a protein that binds to a promoter sequence having at least about 90 % homology to nucleotides 6-28 of the RE1 sequence and acting to suppress the acitivity of a promoter having the promoter sequence. The invention further provides a substantially pure nucleic acid encoding a protein having at least about 85 % homology to at least one of the DNA binding domain or the suppressor domain of an animal RE1-Silencing Transcription factor. The invention also relates to the proteins so encoded.</p> |
