An intermediate casing (2) and a control casing (3) are bolted (4) together to a flange (1) within which the shaft (6) rotates with an externally toothed rotor (7) in co-operation with an internally toothed wheel (8). The commutator (5) press-fitted into the control casing has a cutout (14) in the face remote from the control disc (10), forming an annular channel between eight uniformly spaced channels (e.g. 127) extending through the commutator and co-operating with seven slots (11) in the disc for the supply and drainage of working fluid.
