PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the axial play of a worm shaft from the direction orthogonal to the built-up plane by pressing an adjustable member by a fixing screw having the axial line orthogonal to the axial line of the worm shaft. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an adjusting member 4 guided to the axial line direction of a worm shaft 2 to be freely displaced and brought into contact with the free end of the worm shaft 2. The adjusting member 4 is pressed by a fixing screw 12 having at least a substantially almost perpendicular axial line to the axial line 9 of the worm shaft 2 against the guide face of the adjusting member and screwed in a bore on a guide face or a fixing rivet piercing the bore. In this way, the axial play of the worm shaft 2 can be adjusted from the direction normal to the built-up plane of a drive device.
