PURPOSE: To obtain pigment-coated paper for printing having high efficiency and high qualities by improving weak points of coating such as streak, scratch, etc., as fatal defects of a blade coating method even in on-machine coating. CONSTITUTION: In on-machine coating in which base paper continuously supplied from a paper machine is successively coated with a coating solution consisting essentially of a pigment and a binder, the pigment contains >=20 pts.wt. of ground limestone having 1.0-3.0μm average particle diameter, the binder has the blending ratio of starch to latex, S/L of <=0.45, the difference in concentration immediately after scraping off by a blade (dynamic water retention value) is prescribed <=5.0% and the residue of 325 mesh of the heavy limestone is <=0.5% to give the objective pigment-coated paper for printing. The pigment- coated paper has excellent smoothness and gloss and does not cause coating defects in a coating process.
