PURPOSE: To obtain a heat-sensitive recording medium which has excellent water resistance, plasticizer resistance and oil resistance by sequentially laminating a thermosensitive color developing layer and a protective layer containing an epoxy modified polyvinyl alcohol and an aldehyde compound on a support. CONSTITUTION: A thermosensitive recording layer is provided on a support, and a protective layer containing an epoxy modified polyvinyl alcohol and an aldehyde compound is further laminated thereon to manufacture a heat- sensitive recording medium. The embodiment of the aldehyde compound includes, for example, aldehyde starch, glutaraldehyde, or glyoxal. The support includes, for example, a sheet, a plastic film or a synthetic sheet. The color developing ingredient of the color developing layer is obtained by the reaction of a leuco dye with an electron acceptive substance such as a phenol substance. The epoxy modified polyvinylalcohol is obtained by copolymerizing a vinyl ester and an epoxy group-containing unsaturated compound in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator, and then saponifying it. |
