PURPOSE: To prevent bricks from being broken due to the imbalance between the inner and outer compressive stresses by specifying the planar shape of the brick to be arranged in a zone of the furnace with large thermal load in a brick layered structure where multiple-layered dissimilar bricks are constructed in the radial direction of the furnace on the inner surface of the shell of a hot stove. CONSTITUTION: The angel of a tapered surface of the brick to be formed on the brick side at the intersection of the tapered surfaces is denoted asαwhen the tapered surfaces of the brick in the radial direction of the furnace are straightly extended in the inward direction of the furnace. When both ends in the circumferential direction of the furnace on the outer side of the furnace to be formed on the brick are straightly extended toward the furnace center point, the furnace center taper angle to be formed on the brick side is denoted asθ, whereα>=θ, e.g. 1.1×θ<=α<=1.3×θis satisfied. The compressive stresses in the outer and inner sides of the furnace exerted in the brick to be arranged in the inner side region of the furnace with large thermal load are equal to each other to prevent the brick from being broken.
