PURPOSE: To obtain a lamp unit of a vehicle wherein visual depth is emphasized when a bulb is turned off, while brightness is strongly enhanced when the bulb is turned on, hardly damaging the feeling of transparency and uniformity in a beam dispersion pattern. CONSTITUTION: A lamp unit comprises a plurality of semicylindrical prisms 16 which extend vertically side by side are formed on the surface of a paraboloid of revolution 15 of a housing 10 on which a bulb 14 is mounted and supported, and a plurality of semicylindrical prisms 19 which are formed horizontally side by side on the inner surface of a front lens 11 having a horizontal wide stretch and mounted at the front of the housing 10. As for the front view of the frontlens 11, the pitches of the horizontal semicylindrical prisms 19 are gradually increased in upward or downward direction on both sides of the generally central portion of the lens 11, while the pitches (P1) of the vertical same prisms 16 are gradually increased in the right- or left-hand direction on both sides of the generally middle portion. |
