PURPOSE: To provide an object extraction device which has high resistance against the light fluctuation in the illumination conditions, etc., and also against the noises of input images in an image pickup system and can stably extract the object. CONSTITUTION: When an input image is compared with a background image for extraction of an object, the hue information having high resistance against the light fluctuation, that is, the hue or the input image calculated at a hue calculation part 102 and the background hue information 108 of a background image storage part 105 are used. The hue fluctuation caused by the object is decided in consideration of the behavior of noises in both input and background images in terms of probability of an image pickup system and based on the hue deciding range set in consideration of the image pickup system of the hue of the input image, i.e., the hue deciding range calculated from the addition type noises of the image pickup system stored in a noise storage part 103 as well as the hue of the input image. In such a way, the noise information on the image pickup system is added to the deciding conditions of the hue changes and the object is extracted. As a result, the change due to the noises can be discriminated from the change due to the object and the stable extraction of the object is attained. |
