PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the information recording capacity of a magneto-optical recording medium by selecting the first and second Curie temperatures of two layers so that the magnetooptical rotation obtained in a relation, Tc1 >T>Tc2 , can substantially become zero. SOLUTION: The thicknesses of two Mo layers 18 and 20 are selected so that the Mo effects of the layers 18 and 20 can increase when the two layers 18 and 20 are magnetic and can become zero when the first layer 18 is nonmagnetic, namely, when T>Tc1 . This means that the thicknesses of the Mo layers 18 and 20 are selected so that the layers 18 and 20 can optically interfere with each other and the total Mo rotation can become zero, namely, the phase difference between rightside circularly polarized light and left-side circularly polarized light can become zero and each polarized light can interfere with itself by reflection to produce zero Mo rotation. |
