PURPOSE: To reduce the distortion in the reproduced waveforms when increasing the linear recording density in the track direction in this way that the recording mark which the recording mark distance exceeding a distance D is recorded so as to be a smaller mark area rather than the recording mark which the recording mark which the recording mark distance is less than D. CONSTITUTION: The mark other than the recording mark having a mark interval less than λ/NA in which the amplitudes of the regenerative signals become small due to the limitation in the optical resolution that is, only the recording mark having an interval between repectively adjacent marks exceeding λ/NA is formed smaller. Then, the recording mark having mark interval less than λ/NA is recorded larger than the recording mark having its mark interval larger than λ/NA. It is desirable to make the area of the smaller recording mark 50 to 98%, more preferably 60 to 95%, of the area of the mark which is to be recorded larger. |
